The Light Year is one progressive rock group that gets stuck in your head and than lingers. The group’s music is a happy marriage of symphonic music with Georgian folk, letting loose of the psychedelic, philosophic and really strong emotional charge. The Light Year performs both in Georgian and English and employs elements from both the classical and the folk music; larger part of the texts is written by the group; part of the texts are derived from various distinguished poets. “The Light Year” was created in March of 2004. On the 8th of April Tbilisi Mayor’s Office hosted their presentation. 16th June the group held their solo concert in the night club “Noa Noa”. 18th June the group was invited as a special guest to the “Art-Gen” festival of Georgian rock groups in Tbilisi. 27th July the group had another solo concert in another night club “16 Rounds”. March 23, 2008. The Light Year. Drum solo by David Changoshvili.
to me it's strange :D
ReplyDeletebeen listening to them all yesterday ... they're amazing ! Gigi Gelelashvili reminds me a lot of ex-Spock's Neal Morse .. his enthousiastic appearance is contaminating (in the most positive sense of the word).. Wonderfull compositions performed by those kids in a most professional way .. even though i don't understand a word (and perhaps just because of that), the language in itself is already a piece of music.
